Paul Johns Professor of Physics Research
Interests:
X rays were discovered in 1895 and applied shortly thereafter to medicine, but most of the subsequent developments in x-ray imaging have been linear enhancements to sources and detectors, leaving the basic physics yet to be fully harnessed. My interests are in: (i) using elastic x-ray scattering to obtain diagnostic information, (ii) data analysis for dual-energy radiography, and (iii) the development of new detector technologies for digital radiography. I also have interest in (iv) reconstruction techniques for computed tomography which minimize energy and scatter artefacts. |
